The grape varieties
The vines on the Pierre Launay Estate are 46% Chardonnay (from Barbonne-Fayel and Broyes only), 51.5% Pinot Noir from Loches-sur-Ource and Buxeuil and 2.5% Meunier from Gyé sur Seine in the Côte des Bar (Barséquanais region). But the figurehead is the Chardonnay from Barbonne-Fayel, which produces fine wines with a strong mineral taste. The Chardonnay from Broyes gives fresher, more acidic wines and plays an important part in the blends. The Pinot Noir and Meunier provide a fruity taste to go with the mineral notes, and give a particularly full-bodied consistency.
